The revived Roman empire?
In 603 BC King Nebuchadnezzar of the Babylonian empire had a very disturbing dream.
He was so distraught by it he could not remember what the dream was. Distressed, he called his "wisemen" and demanded they tell him what the dream was and what it meant. They could not give him a answer. They tried to convince the king to tell them what the dream was and they would then give him the interpretation. Infuriated, the king replied, "If you do not tell me what the dream is, I am going to kill all of you and turn your houses into dung piles." Stupefied, they were clueless. So the king demanded they be put to death. However, Daniel, one of the wisemen, convinced the king to grant him a twenty-four hour reprieve in order to seek His God. And we know the rest of the story, Daniel and his three friends prayed all night and God gave them the dream and the interpretation. Daniel went back to the king and said, "King, your wisemen didn't have an answer, but there is a God in heaven who has all the answers. Here is your dream."
So Daniel told the king what the dream was and then gave him the interpretation. "You dreamed of a statue of a man that was very frightening to look upon, made of various types of metals, starting from his head and going down to his feet. The head was made of gold, the arms and chest made out of silver, the stomach made of brass, the legs made of iron, and the feet made with a mixture of iron and clay. As you were gazing at the statue, suddenly a massive stone came flying through the air and struck the feet made of iron and clay. The entire statue toppled and crumbled. The stone that hit the statue began to grow and grow until it became a great mountain that filled the earth. This was your dream."
As King Nebuchadnezzar gawked in wander, Daniel gave him the interpretation.
"The various metals going from the head to the feet represent various gentile empires that will come into being successively. The golden head is symbolic of the Babylonian empire." At this time Daniel did not tell King Nebuchadnezzar who the other kingdoms were, but in the following chapters in Daniel we learn who they are. The silver is the Medo-Persia empire. The brass is the Greek empire. The iron is the Roman empire. Then the feet with the iron and clay mixture is not actually a fifth empire, but a revival of the ancient Roman empire. This is why we refer to it as "the revived Roman empire." The iron feet contaminated with clay means it will be much weaker than the ancient Roman empire.
Concerning this futuristic revived Roman empire which will eventually be led by ten kings represented by ten toes, Daniel says in Daniel 2:44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them down to an end, but it will itself endure forever." As Christians, we know this is talking about the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. At the end of time, Jesus will come and crush the Antichrist Kingdom and once-and-for-all establish His eternal kingdom.
I think it is worth noting that if we would take a close look at history we would be astounded at how perfectly accurate Daniel's interpretation was. Therefore we can be certain that the manifestation of "the revived Roman Empire" will certainly come into existence.
Okay, Tim, a lot of intriguing information. I am impressed by Daniel's perfect interpretation of the dream. I am convinced that in some bizarre fashion the Roman empire will revive. But now tell me where you are going with this?
It is almost for certain that the European Union is the revived Roman empire or at the very least the beginning of what will become the final Roman empire of clay and iron. There are 3 reasons why.
First of all, much of the ancient Roman empire was made up of the European nations.
Secondly, the history of the European Union.
For the last 2.000 years the nations of Europe have warred against one another, including two great world wars. However, after World War II the European continent was devastated by the war. So, in a desperate move after the war, some of the nations of Europe decided that in order to rebuild their nation and economy, they should work together. They first started with a trade agreement called "the Schuman Plan." The Schuman Plan brought six nations of Europe together in the industry of coal and steel. It was so successful in strengthening their economy, they continued to write other treaties that covered every aspect of citizen life, socially, politically and economically. Because the economy was greatly prospering for these nations, twenty other nations soon joined the European Union. Gradually, the internal borders of these nations were completely removed and there was free movement between the nations of the European Union. Eventually the European Union began fortifying its outer borders to keep out unwanted immigrants. This was an obvious effort to mold the European Union into one empire.
Thirdly, how far the uniting of these nations has become today.
There are 27 nations in the European Union and they have worked very hard at creating a centralized government. This government is made up of Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches, much like the United States of America.
The benefits of joining the European Union must be very good because the other nations of Europe are standing in line to get in. Right now there are 7 other candidate nations trying to join the Union.
Presently, 19 of the 27 nations have a common currency called the Euro. The plan is that the other 8 nations will change to the Euro in the near future.
Under the Common Security and Defense Policy of the European Union, it is possible for the European Union of today to deploy up to 1.3 million soldiers in combat. The world is watching a mighty European military being formed.
The Washington Post dated May 18, 2022 reported, "Establishing an EU military would not only provide important protection from aggression of the sort on display in Ukraine, it will also be a logical step in European integration." This is the goal of the European Union; to integrate the nations of the Europe into an empire.
In December 1, 2009 the European Union drafted its constitution. It is called "the Reform Treaty."
This is important to note because now the European Union has a ruling document that ties the nations together under one government.
When we put these three strong indicators together, it is almost certain the European Union is "the revived Roman empire" Daniel prophesied to come. Though the European Union has not come out and openly declared, "We are the revived Roman empire," geographically the European Union is nearly the same as the ancient Roman empire. It is a dynamic unity of nations joined together under one government. However, as Daniel prophesied, it is not nearly as mighty as the ancient Roman empire.
Well, I have said a lot and given us a lot to consider. Just one more reminder of how astonishingly our world today is being prepared for "the beast kingdom." Considering all the strong indicators, we can say almost for certain that the European Union is the revived Roman empire or at the very least the beginning of what will become the final Roman empire.
