Prophetic Pulpit Introduction

Bible Prophecy and Current World Events

Eschatology?! How did you develop an interest in that?
I'm glad you asked. Teaching in a bible school, some years ago I was asked to teach on Paul's letters to the Thessalonians. Since much of it is based on the end times, I thought I had better brush up on it. What I discovered was amazing! So many of the current events of our time fit into bible prophecy. In fact, the age we are living in is prophetically spoken about more than any other time in history. These are exciting times when we are knowledgeable in bible prophecy. Well, needless to say, I became fascinated.

There are two ways to study bible prophecy. First, what the text literally says. Secondly, in the light of current events. Though I immensely enjoy the first, I am enthralled with the second. For instance, one could watch the news with the bible open on their lap and say, this fits here; that fits there; this world event is helping to fulfill this bible prophecy. It is amazing! We are so close to the return of Christ, God is using everything in our world to bring us to that closing moment. To quote one of my favorite eschatologists, the world is not falling into pieces, the world is falling into place. God is working behind the scenes, arranging everything to bring us to that moment when He raptures His church from this earth and the man of lawlessness steps onto the world stage. Today's current events is God's megaphone and He is calling to His bride, You are so close!

After some years of studying current events in the light of bible prophecy, I thought I would share the little I know about it. Also, I thought I would share some interesting thoughts and theories on the matter. Please keep in mind I am not claiming to be an expert on the topic, there are some considerations that people may not necessarily agree with. However, I am not writing my posts as thus saith the Lord! I'm just making observations.

So what is the purpose of this blog?

First of all, to help Christians connect current events with bible prophecy. In doing so, realizing just how close we are to the coming of the Lord. Please allow me to say it again because it is worth repeating: the times we are living in become exciting when we understand last day bible prophecy.

Secondly, as a source of encouragement. Jesus said, When you see these things taking place, look up, for your redemption draws near. As Christians, these world events do not cause us to fear, but places a joyful expectation into our hearts that at any moment we are leaving to be with Christ. To quote another one of my favorite eschatologists, All of these events is just God shouting from heaven, 'The King is coming! The King is coming! Lift up your head and be ready! For the dead in Christ shall rise first! Then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air!'

Thirdly, to help kindle in our hearts the desire to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because end time prophecy is such a strong reminder that this world is not your home, so do not give your heart to the fleeting treasures of this world, we have eyes to see the true treasures of heaven, the souls of people. Christ Himself created us and placed us in this generation for such a time as this, and our passion is to reach as many people as we possible can with the gospel-
before the trumpet blows!
