A forklift!
My dad has been a Pastor for many years, and the Lord gave him this dream in a time where his Pastorate was very difficult. Deacons in the church had risen up against him to have him removed as Pastor. They caused both my dad and mom a lot of pain. And sad to say, they were successful in removing my father. However, the Lord prepared my dad's heart through a dream.
In the dream my dad was behind a small wooden pulpit, preaching his heart out. The Word was a fire in my soul! However, half way through the message all the people sitting in the pews to his right got up and walked out. My father was confused: That's strange. what just happened? However, he kept preaching. Shortly after, all the people sitting in the pews on his left got up and walked out. How bizarre?! Now he's really perplexed: What is this all about?! Yet again, even though the church was vacant, he kept preaching.
Suddenly, to his astonishment, a forklift burst through the front doors, drove down the isle, picked up the pulpit, turned around, and drove back down the isle and out the doors. Regardless to say, now my dad has stopped preaching. Deeply troubled, he asked the Lord, What is this all about?
In the empty quiet, the Lord spoke very gently to His heart, "If you lose your ministry, you still have everything because you still have your relationship with me. As long as you have a relationship with me, you are not missing anything. You have me and I am more than enough. Your personal relationship with God is your greatest treasure."
Even now I pause in reflection.
How many times I have pondered my father's dream. In times of loss and confusion, through the precious dream God has given to my dad, God has reminded me also, "As long as you have a relationship with me, you are not missing anything. You have me and that is more than enough."
It's not always an easy lesson to learn. Loss and disappointment of any kind can be very painful. However, I am reminded of Mark 1:1 "The good news of Jesus Christ." Ultimately, Jesus is our good news. Ultimately what He as done for me, and my relationship with Him is my good news. No matter what disappointment invades my life, my salvation in Christ is secure and my relationship with Jesus cannot be shaken. My salvation and my relationship with my Savior is my most priceless treasure. When this world, with all of its pain and disappointments is over, my relationship with my precious Savior will last forever.
