Prophetic Pulpit: What is the Antichrist?

                                            The Antichrist

Since the Antichrist is such a HUGE figure in the Great Tribulation and I will be blogging about him often, I thought I would briefly explain who he is. Please keep in mind I will be interchanging between the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation. The Tribulation is the first three and a half years of his reign where he will reign in peace. The Great Tribulation is the last three and a half years of his reign where he will declare himself to be God and begin murdering millions of people. 

The bible reveals to us that one man will rise up out of obscurity and unite the world under one government during the Tribulation. The bible calls him the Antichrist. This global dictator will be powerfully infused by Satan and will disguise himself as an angel of light. He will seemingly have the world's best interest at heart, bringing peace to a world in turmoil and crisis, but will later reveal his true nature of evil. 

Daniel 7:20 tells us that his appearance will be greater than his fellows. 

He will be remarkably handsome. The combination of his charismatic personality, speaking ability, and striking good looks will make him irresistible to the world. 

However, the bible also describes him as a beast (Revelation 13:1-8).

During the last three and a half years of the Great Tribulation, the Antichrist, indwelt by Satan, will break his promises and treaties, set himself up in the Jewish temple and proclaim himself to be God.  

At this time, according to Revelation 13:8 all the world will worship him. As an act of worship he will require everyone to receive his mark. Those who refuse will be put to death. One of his evil intentions behind it all is to kill the Jews and everyone who has accepted Christ during the Tribulation.  

At the end of the seven year Tribulation he will lead the last great battle in the earth, the Battle of Armageddon. (Spoiler alert: It is not much of a battle. Jesus will speak his Word and destroy him and his armies in one breath). The Antichrist's goal in this battle is to once and for all wipe Israel off of the face of the earth. However, by the time this battle comes, much of the world will have become exasperated by all his lies and broken promises. They will assemble their own armies and try to overthrow his global dictatorship.  

Just as the entire earth is about to be wiped out in this great and terrible battle, Jesus will come from heaven with His Saints and destroy the Antichrist and his armies. He will also confine Satan to the lake of fire. Then Christ will set up His one thousand year Kingdom where He will reign over the Tribulation saints (those who got saved in the Tribulation). The Saints who returned to earth with Him from heaven will reign with Him as Jesus sets His throne in Jerusalem. 

The bible reveals to us that this will be a glorious time of peace on the earth. The earth is wholly safe and secure under the government of Christ. Jesus will rule the earth in justice, equality and authority. The bible says there will be such peace that children will play with snakes and even the lion and lamb will lie down together. All is peace and harmony as the Kingdom of God reigns in the earth.

What follows the Millennial Kingdom? We will talk about that at a soon and coming time.
