Eschatology For Beginners: A Primary Player "Europe"

Hi everyone. In last day bible prophecy Europe is a "Primary player." 

Daniel 2:45 "...the great God has shown the king what will take place in the future." 

Let's make this short and simple. In Daniel 2 God gives the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, a dream. Through Daniel's interpretation of the dream we know the dream to be a timeline. It reveals the 5 empires that will rule over the earth until Jesus returns and sets up His millennial kingdom. 

Four of these empires have already passed. 

1 Babylon: the head of gold. (605 BC-539BC.)

2 Medo-Persia: chest and arms of silver. (539BC-331BC.) 

3 Greece: belly and thighs of brass. (331-168 BC.) 

4 Rome: legs of iron. (168 BC-476 AD.)

Unlike the previous three world empires, the Roman empire was never overthrown by another empire. It simply fizzled out of existence. The Roman empire slowly faded out as a result of challenges from within and without, changing over the course of of hundreds of years until its form was unrecognizable. 

Going back to Nebuchadnezzar's dream, connected to the legs of iron (the ancient Roman empire) were feet and toes. We call this fifth empire "the Revived Roman Empire." In other words, in the last days much of the region that made up the ancient Roman empire will once again become an empire in the earth. We know this to be Europe since modern Europe is geographically the same region as the ancient Roman empire. When you look at a map of the ancient Roman empire, so much of it is Europe today. 

According to end-time bible prophecy, this "Revived Roman empire" (modern day Europe) will be a mighty empire in the earth again. Eschatologists agree this European empire is today's European Union. Today the European Union is considered to be a super power. The EU has 500 million people. It has a collective defense budget of $200 billion dollars, making it the second most powerful on the planet. It possesses nuclear weapons with the capacity to launch and annihilate any enemy on the planet. It has the largest  political influence in the world. It has a massive economy of about $18.5 trillion (USD), making it the largest on earth. It has truly become a world empire and only getting stronger. 

According to bible prophecy, this European empire will eventually be divided into 10 sections represented by the 10 toes in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Though the European Union is made up of many European nations, it would not be hard to divide all these nations into 10 sections and set a chancellor over each section.

The bible reveals to us that the Antichrist will rise to power in Europe and conquer three of these kingdoms (sections.) Then the other seven kings (chancellors) will give their power and allegiance to the Antichrist. It is then he will rule entirely over this European empire and begin world domination. (In a soon coming blog I will go into more detail. Right now I am simply showing why Europe is a primary player.)
