A coming preview?
Campaigning for president, Donald Trump declared a very important part of his presidency would be to achieve peace between Israel and her Arab neighbors. After three years into his presidency, President Trump surprised the world by announcing a peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirate. A few days later, the country of Bahrain announced they would also establish peace with Israel.
On September 15, 2020, representatives from Israel, the United States, the United Arab Emirate, and Bahrain met in Washington, DC on the White House lawn. There they signed the Abraham Accord.
In signing the Abraham Accord, the UAE and Bahrain acknowledged that Israel had a right to exist in the land given to them by the Abrahamic Covenant. What?! In recognizing Israel's sovereignty, this enabled the establishment of full diplomatic relations between these countries.
The Abraham Accord specified that the UAE and Bahrain would establish their respective embassies in Israel and work together with Israel among a range of sectors, including tourism, trade and security.
The religious significance is that it would allow for Muslims to one of the holiest sites in Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
In December 2020, Morocco joined the accords and normalized relations with Israel after the Trump administration recognized Moroccan control over the disputed Western Sahara region. In January 2021, Sudan joined the Abraham Accords and normalized relations with Israel after the Trump administration agreed to remove Sudan from the State Department list of "state sponsors of terrorism."
After the recent conflict between Israel and Palestine in May 2020, US President Joe Biden and his administration have begun laying the ground work to encourage more Arab countries to sign accords with Israel and working to strengthen existing deals after the devastating war in the Gaza Strip.
So why is this so important in bible prophecy?
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Daniel 9:27 tells us that the Tribulation will begin when the Antichrist confirms a covenant with Israel for 7 years. This covenant will cause Israel's Arab neighbors to lay down their arms, agree Israel has a right to exist in her land, and allow Israel to rebuild the Jewish temple on the temple mount.
Looking at verse 27, I believe the key word is "confirm."
"To confirm" implies there is already a peace agreement in place, it is just stuck in deadlock. The parties involved are not able to come to full agreements and tensions are high.
However, the Antichrist suddenly intervenes in such wisdom that he is able to resolve all the differences. His plan will make everybody happy. Finally, there is peace in the Middle East!
So, is the Abraham Accord this covenant the Antichrist will confirm?
I am not saying it is, but we are so close to the coming of Lord, it has to tie in somewhere! Somehow it plays a role in the Antichrist's covenant with Israel. When we look at all the last days bible prophecy being so brazenly fulfilled before our very eyes, we know we are so close to the Lord's return. Since the Lord's return is upon us, everything happening in our world today, especially in the Middle East, has ties to the soon-and-coming Antichrist.
So, what should we watch for?
More countries agreeing to sign the Accord. Daniel 9:27 says, "he shall confirm the covenant with many." Because of the Abraham Accord, I believe it is possible there will be more Arab countries willing to negotiate for peace with Israel. It will be interesting to watch the Arab's nations response to this Accord in the coming days.
Prophecy Update: Hold the phone!
PRNewswire News Provided By The Abraham Accords Global Leadership Summit December 8, 2022 World leaders, ambassadors, diplomats, entrepreneurs, lawmakers, academics and clergy from over THIRTY countries converged on Rome today for the First Annual Abraham Accords Global Leadership Summit, and exclusive invitation-only event focused on new ways to increase peace and tolerance in the spirit of the Abraham Accords.
Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon presented an optimistic view of Israel's recently elected government: "I bring good news from Jerusalem. The new Israeli government's first priority will be to increase signatories to the Abraham Accords. The Abraham Accords were not built in a day. The hardest part was going public. It is just a matter of time before courageous leaders step out of the shadows and full peace is achieved between all the children of Abraham. I expect we'll see an agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia this year."
Wow! Thirty countries?!
Think about it! All these countries gathered in Rome to focus on ways to ensure peace between the nations from the offspring of Abraham. Astonishing! It brings us back to Daniel 9:27: "he shall confirm the covenant with many."
"Are we watching a preview of the coming covenant?!"
