When dreams are delayed
Genesis 37: 6, 7 And Joseph said to his brothers, "Hear this dream I have dreamed. For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright, and behold, your sheaves stood round about and worshipped my sheaf."
What I find so intriguing in this verse is that Joseph truly received a dream from the Lord, yet, how many times he used the word "my." "MY sheaf arose." "Your sheaves stood round about and worshipped MY sheaf."
Often our dreams are delayed because God needs to take us on a journey and change our attitudes.
He needs to change our focus from 'me' to 'God.' "It's not about my glory. It is about God's glory."
So often we say things like, "It's all about God's honor. To God be the glory." However, God really knows what is in our hearts. Though we may be serious when we say these things, deep in our heart is the desire for honor and reputation from man. So, the journey begins. Sometimes a very long journey.
In this journey there will be disappointments and setbacks to show us that we have made our dream all about our self. Often when dreams are delayed it causes us to do some heart searching. When our dreams experience disappointment, sometimes shattering disappointment, we have to ask the question, "Is God trying to show me that I have made this dream all about me?"
For our dream to reap its greatest blessing and have its deepest impact, it must be about God's glory and honor. God takes us on this journey to mature us, and cause us to see that our dreams are all about God's glory and purposes in the earth. When we finally reach the end of this particular journey, we come out with a sincere cry in our heart, I am what I am by the grace of God! To God be all the glory!
