The Soldier's Manual Of the Bible
When I was 18 years old I joined the United States Army. When I arrived at boot camp the very first thing they did was hand me a thick green book called "The Soldier's Manual." In the book was everything I needed to know about how to fight a successful warfare. In it was everything from how to use your weapons; how to identify the enemy; how to set up an ambush; how to apply a tourniquet; all I could possibly need to know was in that Soldier's Manual!
Joshua is "the Soldier's Manual" of the bible. Everything the Christian needs to know about warring a successful warfare against our spiritual enemy is in the book of Joshua. It is the soldier's warfare book.
As Christians we are designed for war. We are both the body and bride of Christ, but we are also His army. We have been designed for war. The bible says God is a man of war; it is in our spiritual DNA. As Christians residing on this side of heaven, we would spiritually dry up and die if we did not have battles to fight.
I know from experience there are times I get weary in the battles and the Lord takes me out, placing me in a position of rest. Somehow in all the physical labor He brings rest to my physical body and shields my mind from the onslaught of Satan's lies. It is a much needed place of R & R. However, it is not long in that place of spiritual retreat that my heart longs to get back into the battle. It is then God releases me back into the skirmish, once again armed-and-ready to take ground from the enemy.
Joshua is a great book for the warrior-side of us. It is full of encouragement and strength, and tells us everything we need to know to wage effective warfare.
I hope you are blessed by this study.
